Students from the Emerson Jr-Sr High School will be performing in a production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss.
How do you spell F-U-N?! Come see the show in March and find out!
The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. This heartfelt musical comedy will have you in stitches as a group of six ragtag adolescents compete in a high-spirited Spelling Bee. Pandemonium ensues as they vie for the top spot, and spell their way to nationals. This high-stakes competition puts each of the contestants at the mic and in the spotlight as we learn about their hilarious and touching stories from the heart. An unusual aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters.
Emerson's musical production, co-directed and choreographed by Bill Ullman, Lisa Ullman and Alyssa Fox, is presented with a special arrangement from Music Theater International, MTI.
Shows will be held on March 4th, 5th, 11th and March 12th at 7:30 PM; and matinee performances will be held on Sunday, March 6th and Saturday March 12th at 2:00 PM at the Emerson Jr-Sr High School, 131 Main Street, Emerson, NJ.
