Dear Parents and Students: 

Each year students in band have an opportunity to perform as a soloist or in a small ensemble at the Ohio Music Educators Association’s Solo and Ensemble music festival.  Students present their song selection before an adjudicator (judge) and receive valuable feedback on their development as a musician and mastery of the piece they chose to perform.  Following their performance, students are awarded a score to recognize their achievement. This is a great experience for musicians of all skill levels!

This is not a required event.  However, the event is open to any student that would like to participate.

FESTIVAL DETAILS

Date: Saturday, February 1, 2025

Location:

Lake High School

*Students must be accompanied by a parent/adult and will need to provide their own transportation.

TIME:

The event generally runs from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Students will be assigned a performance time in advance to help you plan your arrival time.  Following the student’s performance, you may leave, or you may wait for the scores to be posted.  (This usually takes 30-60 minutes).   

Cost:

$21 per student per event.  If a student is only performing in one event, the cost is $21.  If a student is performing in two events, the cost is $42.   Payment is through Payschools. 

Song Selections:

Music will be chosen from the OMEA Solo and Ensemble recommended song list.  Mr. Kuzdzal will assist each student/ensemble in selecting a song that is best suited for their ability and instrument. 

Rehearsals:

Students will have the opportunity to rehearse in school.  However, in order for a student to successfully perform their chosen piece, they will need to rehearse on their own at home
